Eirini's Journey
I was called to become a life coach so that I can guide others to discover within themselves the insights and skills that I have learned along my personal and professional journey. The name of my transformational coaching practice is me2morph. That derives from the Greek word metamorphosis and stands for the proposition that “I too can change.” And it is the change that I personally went through that serves as my inspiration to help others bring positive change to their lives.
At just several months of age, I suffered brain trauma due to oxygen deprivation, resulting in challenges with comprehension, speech, and expression. These difficulties led to a decades-long struggle with fear, anxiety, anger and depression, creating internal chaos.
Despite my challenges, I had many successes in life. I was a graphic designer working with major brands, a wife and mother who raised two children, a Girl Scout leader and contributor to my communities. But I was still held back by my challenges.
It was not until I changed my mindset — to see life in a different light — that I was able to begin the process of overcoming my challenges and developing the skills to move forward and eventually help others reach their aspirations.
My epiphany was a long time in coming, but it came suddenly. One day I realized that the destructive stories that I had been telling myself were within my power to rewrite. This liberated me. If I had the power to destroy myself internally, I came to understand that I also had the power to be victorious.
This led me to take concrete steps to change my life. My training with the Mental Health Association of Westchester introduced me to the use of engagement and reflective listening. This led to a professional position as director of life enrichment at an adult care facility, where I was able to give hope and joy to 74 residents, all with chronic mental health disabilities. For more than a decade, I volunteered to provide pet therapy, meditation, deep breathing, stress management and pastoral care services at local hospitals.
And then came the decision to train as a life coach, gaining knowledge and certifications as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) from the International Coaching Federation; a CVPCC from the Center for Coaching Mastery at CoachVille and a Higher Ground Leadership® Certified Coach from The Secretan Center. I was also certified by The Art of Living Foundation to lead deep breathing and meditation wellness workshops.
With that, I have developed my own coaching methodology, employing what I call “the spirit of play,” so that the process of personal change becomes light and not onerous. In doing so I am able to lead my clients — who I more accurately call “players” — to increase their self-awareness, clarify their direction, implement action plans and hold themselves accountable for their progress.
I have learned that we all need to have the courage to dream BIG!
